Kriti Sanon’s next ‘Mimi’ release to be pushed as the makers are yet to shoot some part of the film. It was scheduled for July 2020 release.

Contrary to the reports that Kriti Sanon starrer will have its digital premiere in July 2020, it is now being reported that the release date might be pushed. The makers are yet to shoot some part of the film which includes an introduction song with UK based actors.

Laxman Utekar, the director, said, “We have close to five days’ shoot left, including the filming of a song and some scenes. But we don’t plan to resume shooting anytime soon. The number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra is increasing with every passing day. Unless that comes under control, I don’t want to call my team on the set.”

Produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Sai Tamhankar. Mimi features Kriti Sanon in the lead role of a surrogate mother, is an official remake of National Award-winning 2011 Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy!

“We have one introductory song left to be shot with Kriti. We have actors from the UK as part of the song and we won’t be able to shoot the song till the time the international flights are inactive,” Utekar added.

Concerned about the safety of the crew and cast, Laxman Utekar is in no hurry to resume the shoot. Director said that the song, that is yet to be shot, is big with several dancers. They are waiting for the lockdown to be lifted so that they can shoot the last song while following all the preventive measures.

When asked about the new trend of releasing the films digitally, Utekar said that the team is not planning the digital release yet, because the film is not ready. Well, Mimi is a low-budget film and it looks difficult that it will get a theatrical release even if cinema halls re-open.
