Heartstopper is a British coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama series written and created by Alice Oseman. It is also based on her webcomic and graphic novel series of the same name.
The series primarily tells the story of Charlie Spring (Joe Locke), a gay schoolboy who falls in love with classmate Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), whom he sits next to in his class. It also explores the lives of their friends Tao Xu (William Gao), Elle Argent (Yasmin Finney), Isaac Henderson (Tobie Donovan), Tara Jones (Corinna Brown) and Darcy Olsson (Kizzy Edgell).
The show has had two successful seasons, the first of which was released on April 22, 2022, while the second season of Alice Oseman’s sweet LGBTQ+ adolescent drama aired in 2023 and ended with a cliffhanger.
Back in May 2022, only a month after its season 1 premiere, Netflix announced that Heartstopper had officially received a double renewal for season 2 and season 3.

When will Heartstopper Season 3 premiere on Netflix?
Good news! Heartstopper Season 3 is coming. Since Seasons 2 and 3 were both confirmed to be renewed at the same time, it makes plausible that Season 3 was already in progress at the same time as Season 2. As of yet, a release date hasn’t been announced.
Filming for season 3 will start in October. The filming of Heartstopper was not affected by the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in America as the production takes place in the United Kingdom.
Heartstopper’s first season debuted on April 22, 2022, and its second season premiered on August 3, 2023. We can hope that, if the current trend holds, Heartstopper season 3 will debut on Netflix sometime in September 2024, just over a year after season two.
What will Heartstopper Season 3 be about?
The first season covered the events of Volumes One and Two of the Heartstopper graphic novel series, written by Alice Oseman and published in 2019. Season 2 covered the third Volume, in which Nick and Charlie encounter their first real relationship problems and go on a school trip to Paris.
The third and fourth volumes of the graphic novel series were released in 2020 and 2021, respectively. The fifth installment is scheduled to be published in December 2023. A sixth and final book has also been announced, but there’s no release date yet.
While viewers are still coming to terms with the end of the second season of Heartstopper, Netflix is already looking ahead, as they have just revealed the title of the first episode of the upcoming third season.
Season 3 is expected to start up where Season 2 left off, and we will finally discover if Charlie and Nick say the three magical words to each other.
