Frozen 3: Everything We Know About The Disney Movie

Frozen 3: Elsa and Anna are making their icy return in 2025!

Frozen 3: Disney’s animated musical fantasy film is coming back with a threequel. Here’s everything you need to know!

Frozen swept the world by storm, leaving behind a touching story and one of the most successful Disney soundtracks. Both films follow Elsa and Anna, two orphaned sisters, and their adventures with love, power struggles, and their sisterly bond. Both stunningly developed princesses captured the hearts of Disney fans of all ages in a single franchise.

Will this, however, be the end? Well, hell no. Jennifer Lee, who wrote and co-directed the first two films, revealed in October 2023 that the creative team is already working hard on the threequel.

If you are here, that obviously means you’ve seen Frozen a hundred times, know which Frozen character you are and you’re dying to see more. Well, Disney isn’t letting go, so get ready. Elsa and Anna are making their icy return. Here’s everything you need to know about Frozen 3!

Frozen 3 Potential Release Date

Frozen 3 was officially announced by Disney CEO Bob Iger in February 2023, but he provided no further details on how far along it is. So, currently, the release date is unknown. But Disney has a number of dates with unidentified projects scheduled for release.

So, it’s likely that Frozen 3 will be released in theaters on one of the two-year movie slots. November 2014 saw the release of Frozen, and November 2019 saw the release of its sequel. It’s probably safe to assume that Frozen 3 will hit theaters in November 2025, given the six-year gap between the first two movies.

Disney often schedules the release of its animated films around Thanksgiving, strategically aligning with the holiday season to encourage families to enjoy these movies together. So, if Frozen 3 follows the same release pattern as its predecessors, it’s safe to bet that it will be released on November 26, 2025.

Frozen 3 Plot: What will be the story of the threequel?

Information regarding the storyline of Frozen 3 has been limited since it was announced. Nonetheless, insights from the events in Frozen 2 might provide hints about what to expect in the upcoming sequel.

In Frozen 2, three years into her reign as Queen of Arendelle and having fully embraced her cryogenic abilities, Elsa embarks on a quest triggered by a mysterious siren’s call, seeking the origin of her powers. Accompanied by Anna, Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf, they venture to the Enchanted Forest, encountering the Northuldra tribe and Arendellian troops

Elsa will probably be followed in Frozen 3 as she explores Ahtohallan and the magical forest. She may be able to regain memories and provide further details about her parents’ pasts. We found out Elsa and Anna’s parents’ history and how they died at the conclusion of Frozen 2. It transpires that Elsa’s ice powers came from Ahtohallan, and that’s why the two were visiting.

Therefore, in the trilogy, Elsa will serve as the link between the spirit and the human world, making Anna the new Arendelle’s Queen since Elsa will be more concerned with larger, more mysterious issues. So, given its previous success, whatever the plot is, the film will undoubtedly be a smash hit.

The Ending of Frozen 2

After discovering her role as the bridge between people and magic, Elsa chooses to safeguard the Enchanted Forest, stepping away from her position as the ruler of Arendelle. Meanwhile, Anna assumes the role of Queen in Arendelle and happily accepts Kristoff’s proposal, leading to their engagement. Despite Elsa’s new responsibilities, she makes regular visits to Arendelle to maintain the peace between the kingdoms and spend time with her sister.

Frozen 3 Cast

Only Idina Menzel as Elsa and Josh Gad as Olaf have confirmed their return to the Frozen 3 cast. Josh Gad confirmed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he will reprise his role of Olaf in Frozen 3 two days after Iger announced the sequel was being developed, saying “Excited to head back… into the Unknown.”

The trilogy, however, will be incomplete without Anna and Kristoff, given the plot of the film. So here is the cast list for Frozen 3. Check it out:

  • Kristen Bell as Anna
  • Idina Menzel as Elsa
  • Josh Gad as Olaf
  • Jonathan Groff as Kristoff

Is there any trailer?

No, currently there is no trailer. Disney may have confirmed it, but it will still be a while before we get any clips from Frozen 3.

Where to watch Frozen?

Frozen 3 will be released in theaters in 2025. However, fans can watch all the parts of Frozen, including Part 3 (when it is released), exclusively on Disney Plus.

Will there be Frozen 4?

On November 16, 2023, during the opening ceremonies of World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland, Bob Iger announced that Frozen IV was also being developed.

“But I don’t have much to say about those films right now. [Director] Jenn Lee, who created the original ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen 2,’ is hard at work with her team at Disney animation on not one but actually two stories.”
