Amazon Prime Video is all set to premiere nine movies across five Indian languages directly on its platform in the coming months.

After the direct-to-digital release of movies like Gulabo Sitabo, Shakuntala Devi, Penguin, Ponmagal Vandhal, Law, French Biriyani, Sufiyum Sujatayum, CU Soon, V, and Nishabdham, Amazon Prime Video will be premiering nine more titles over the next few months.

Vijay Subramanian, Director & Content Head, Amazon Prime Video, India, said, “Our previous direct-to-service launches were watched in over 180 countries. We are buoyed by the tremendous response we received and are excited to up the ante with another 9 eagerly-awaited direct-to-service premieres, spanning 5 languages, to entertain our customers through this festive season.”

Halal Love Story (Malayalam)

The film follows the journey of a group of friends, who attempt to make a ‘halal’ film that conforms to the guidelines and descriptions of an Islamic organization which they are a part of. The film promises to bring back all the charm and small-town goodness of its director Zakariya Mohammed’s previous film Sudani From Nigeria. We just can’t wait to see what he has to offer this time around.

Manne No 13 (Kannada)

Manne No 13 is a horror-thriller backed by D Krishna Chaitanya, who has previously made horror hits like 6 – 5 = 2 and Karvva. This film has an ensemble cast that includes faces from Kannada and Tamil industries. The film, again, has been ready for some time and has raised curiosity, given the makers’ track record for making good horror films.

Chhalaang (Hindi)

It is a black comedy set in Uttar Pradesh and depicts the challenges a sports teacher faces. It tries to lay emphasis on the importance of sports on the development of children. The film is presented by Bhushan Kumar and produced by Ajay Devgn, Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg.

Soorarai Pottru (Tamil)

The movie is a fictionalized version of the book Simply Fly written on the life of Air Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan. It is produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and co-produced by Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment and has GV Prakash composing music.

Middle Class Melodies (Telugu)

Middle Class Melodies is a humour packed whimsical tale depicting the congenial lives of the middle class in a village where a young man dreams of owning a hotel. It promises to be a simple and heartwarming tale about a man’s entrepreneurial journey.

Cast: Varsha Bollamma, Aiswarya Gowda, Praveen Prem

Release Date: November 20

Durgavati (Hindi)

The movie tells the story of an innocent government officer who is made the victim of a major conspiracy involving powerful forces. Durgavati is presented by T-Series and Cape of Good Films. It is touted to be a remake of the 2018 Telugu movie Bhaagmathie.

Maara (Tamil)

Maara is a remake of the 2015 – Malayalam movie, Charlie and is produced by Prateek Chakravorty and Shruti Nallappa of Pramod Films. Its music is composed by Ghibran, with cinematography handled by Dinesh Krishnan and Karthik Muthukumar while Bhuvan Srinivasan took care of the editing.

Bheemasena Nalamaharaja (Kannada)

As per the director, Karthik Saragur, the movie is “based on six rasas — sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent and astringent, and the six characters it represents.” It is produced by Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah, Rakshit Shetty, and Hemanth M. Rao. The soundtrack and score for the movie is composed by Charan Raj and the cinematography was handled by Ravindranath.

Cast: Aravinnd Iyer, Aarohi Narayan, Priyanka Thimmesh.

Coolie No.1 (Hindi)

Starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan, Coolie no.1 is an official remake of the 1995 blockbuster masala movie of the same name. It is David Dhawan’s 45th movie as a director. It is produced by Vashu and Jacky Bhagnani with Ravi K Chandran handling the cinematography. Coolie No.1 was one of the most anticipated releases of the year and Amazon Prime might have just hit a jackpot by acquiring it.
