Made on a budget of around Rs 20 Crore, it has earned Rs 122+ Crore in India in just nine days. The Sudipto Sen directional is looking set to earn at least Rs 200 Crore in India. Kahaani

Budget: Rs 8 Crore

Worldwide box office collection: Rs 104 Crore

This Vidya Balan starrer thriller released in 2012 was a blockbuster. Critics loved the screenplay, the cinematography and the performances of the lead actors.

Stree

Budget: Rs 14 Crore

Worldwide box office collection: Rs 181 Crore

This Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor and Pankaj Tripathi starrer horror-comedy received tremendous love from critics and audiences. As a result, it went on to earn Rs 100+ Crore at the Indian box office.

Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety

Released in 2018, this Luv Ranjan’s romantic comedy broke several box-office records for a low-budget movie with no established stars.

Sriram Raghavan’s black comedy starring Tabu, Ayushmann Khurrana and Radhika Apte was one of the best Bollywood movies of 2018. In India, it earned around Rs 75 Crore. Most of its earnings came from China (Rs 250+ Crore).

Worldwide box office collection: Rs 195 Crore

Backed by Alia Bhatt’s powerful performance, this spy thriller directed by Meghna Gulzar was a big hit at the box office. The movie is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s 2008 novel Calling Sehmat, a true account of an Indian RAW agent who, upon her father’s request, is married into a family of military officers in Pakistan to forward information to India, prior to the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

Uri: The Surgical Strike

Worldwide box office collection: Rs 342 Crore

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the movie is a fictional dramatised account of the true event of the retaliation to the 2016 Uri attack. It stars Vicky Kaushal along with Yami Gautam, Mohit Raina, Kirti Kulhari and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles, and tells the story of Major Vihaan Shergill (Vicky Kaushal) of the Para (Special Forces), who played a leading role in the events.

The Kashmir Files

Budget: Rs 20-25 Crore

Worldwide box office collection: Rs 340 Crore

One of the most controversial movies of Bollywood, The Kashmir Files presents a fictional storyline centred around the 1990s exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Indian-administered  Kashmir.
