Anushka, who is still riding high with the success of ‘Sultan’ and busy with her next mega release ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, has been chosen to star in Sanjay Dutt’s biopic played by Ranbir Kapoor.
After the sizzling chemistry of Ranbir-Anushka in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, the makers of Dutt’s biopic decided to include Anushka in their film. Although, Anushka won’t be playing Ranbir’s lead lady, she has been given the decent role of a scribe who will chronicle Dutt’s life in the movie. The director of the biopic – Raju Hirani, who has worked earlier with Anushka Sharma in ‘PK’, approached the actress and apparently, Anushka nodded yes in a jiffy.
A close source confirms, “Anushka is not playing Manyata or even any of Sanjay’s love interest. It’s a cameo appearance, she will be seen as a scribe who chronicles Sanjay’s life in the film.”
Anushka and Ranbir Kapoor have already worked twice earlier in Bombay Velvet and the yet to be released ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. They share a good friendship and rapport, so it will definitely be interesting to see the duo again in not-a-romantic role.
The roles of Dutt’s current wife – Maanyata Dutt and his exes hasn’t been finalized yet. The role of Dutt’s father – Late. Sunil Dutt, was offered to Aamir Khan. Aamir, who has worked with Raju Hirani in blockbusters ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘PK’, backed out due to date issues. Although, he confessed he really wanted to play the role of Sunil Dutt. Apart from Ranbir and Anushka, no other roles have been finalized yet. Looks like, Raju Hirani wants to take his own time and be a perfectionist in finalizing everyone’s roles.
The biopic will showcase the ups and downs of Sanjay Dutt’s life. The filmmaker is still working on the script and has 900 hours of recorded conversations with Sanjay from which he has to cull out a two-and-a half-hour film. The movie is set to release on December 2017.
