Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming movie Rangoon in legal trouble due to some issues related to copyright and things are getting complicated by the minute.

Rangoon is all set to take the box-office by storm on this Friday and we can’t wait to see what Vishal Bhardwaj has in store for us. Unfortunately, Rangoon in legal trouble due to some copyright issues.

According to recent reports, Wadia Movietone Pvt. Ltd. has filed a copyright infringement legal case in Mumbai High court against the producers of the film. Roy Wadia, Managing Director of the firm has said that Kangana’s character of Julia in the film is inspired by Australian actress Mary Evans who is known as Fearless Nadia. He claimed that all the rights of posters and publicity material of Fearless Nadia films have been produced by his firm.

According to the filed lawsuit, the makers have infringed Nadia’s character by using her costumes, catchphrase and poses. Reportedly, Wadia had earlier approached UTV in 2006 and suggested a film on Fearless Nadia but things didn’t work out. He later heard about Vishal Bharadwaj has come up with a film with a similar story. Later, Wadia was also assured by the director that the film will only concentrate on the love story. Yet, after watching the promos, Wadia felt cheated.

The hearing of the lawsuit will be presented today in Mumbai High Court.
