Marathi film Sairat starring Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar is a tragic romantic love story which revolves around the life of a low caste boy Parshya and upper caste girl Archi. The movie earned a lot of praise and became the first Marathi movie to gross 100 crores.
Sairat created huge hype not only in Maharastra but across the country. While many filmmakers have expressed their desire to remake the film, it is Karan Johar who has reportedly acquired the rights for the Hindi remake.
According to a report by a leading daily, Dharma Productions has acquired the remake rights of ‘Sairat’ and will be producing it along with the film’s original producers, Zee.
Reports further reveal that the basic storyline will remain the same. The work on the script is in progress and it will be little tweaked as per Hindi audience. The casting for the film starts once the scripting gets overs. The film will go on floors early next year.
It will be interesting to see who will step into Rinki and Akash’s shoes for Sairat Hindi remake.
