Padmaavat - PadMan clash averted: Akshay Kumar’s film release pushed to February 9

The box office clash between Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘PadMan’ has been averted.

This was rather expected especially after the Supreme court lifted the ban on the release of Padmaavat in four major states. The most talk about box office clash of this year between Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘PadMan’ has been averted. In a sudden turn of events, R Balki’s film starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte has opted out of the box-office battle. Akshay Kumar’s film will now release on 9 Feb 2018.

Few days ago when the release date of Padmaavat was announced, the makers of PadMan were in no mood to change the release date of their film. However, after Padmaavat being cleared for all India release, the makers of PadMan have bowed down and pushed their film to Feb 9. It now means that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus will be the solo Bollywood release over the long Republic day weekend.

Few days back, when Akshay Kumar was asked about the box office clash, he said, “It is not about competition, it is a very big day, a big week, so all the films can come, both the films can release on that day. Every film has the right to release whenever they want, and I am happy for them.”

According to reports coming, Bhansali has personally met and requested Akshay to push the release of his film. Akshay has accepted his request and the film has been postponed to 9 Feb. Akshay Kumar’s PadMan will now clash with Neeraj Pandey’s Aiyaary.
