2017 wasn’t a great year for Bollywood as around 95% of the total releases bombed at the box office. Well, the start of 2018 is not encouraging either. As predicted by, last week Bollywood releases, Kaalakandi, Mukkabaaz and 1921 have failed to perform at the domestic box office. This was always expected as all these movies were released with almost zero pre-release buzz. Let’s have a look at Kaalakandi, Mukkabaaz and 1921 first week box office collection.

Mukkabaaz first week collection

Anurag Kashyap films have an history of getting rave reviews and gets teared apart at the box office. Same is the case with his new film Mukkabaaz. The movie has been loved by the critics but on ticket window it turns a total washout. The total first week collection of Mukkabaaz is less than 7 crores. With no chances of revival, the movie is a big flop at the box office.

Kaalakandi first week collection

Saif Ali Khan’s Kaalakandi turns out the weakest of all films which were releases last week. The movie has struggled big time and it was always expected. Films like Kaalakandi are not mean for conventional Bollywood audience. The fate of the movie was sealed on the very first day when it earned just 1.25 crores. The first week collection of Kaalakandi is around 6.3 crores. It is one of the biggest flops of Saif Ali Khan’s career. It is Saif Ali Khan’s 8th disaster in a row. His last hit film was Race 2, released way back in 2010. The actor needs to reconsider his choice of movies.

1921 first week collection

In terms of box office collection, 1921 turns out the best of last week releases. After a low opening, the movie held well over the weekdays to end the first week on a positive now. The first week collection of 1921 is around 11.5 crores. Made on a budget of around 20 crores, 1921 still have a chance to recover its cost.

Overall, it turned out a disastrous weekend for Bollywood. 2017 was a bad year for Bollywood and a disastrous start to this year is not a good sign for the distributors and exhibitors.
