Shabana Azmi is the hero of Neerja despite the titular role being played by Sonam Kapoor. Sonam Kapoor’s “Neerja” was released in Gulf on Thursday and it is receiving rave reviews from the critics.
“Neerja” is based on the real-life story of flight attendant Neerja Bhanot, who sacrificed her life to save the passengers of the hijacked Pan Am Flight 73. Directed by Ram Madhvani, the movie features Sonam as Neerja, Shabana Azmi as her mother Rama and Shekhar Ravjiani as her love interest.
