Women at War Season 2: Is It Happening At Netflix?

Women at War season 2

Women at War Season 2: The Netflix historical drama might not be renewed for further seasons. Here’s what we know.

  • The historical drama series premiered in France on Netflix in October 2022 followed by international release in January 2023.
  • Upon its release, Women at War appeared among the Netflix top 10 shows in 58 countries.

Women at War is a historical drama created by Cécile Lorne and directed by Alexandre Laurent and set in France during World War I. The Franco-Belgian historical series premiered in France on Netflix in October 2022 followed by international release in January 2023.

The plot chronicles the lives of four separate women who come to a point where their stories begin to converge as they attempt to deal with the devastating effects of the war at home.

In 1914, during WW1, the destinies of four women intersect- Marguerite de Lancastel, a mysterious Parisian sex worker; Caroline Dewitt, propelled to the head of the family factory; Mother Agnès, Mother Superior of a requisitioned convent; and Suzanne Faure, a feminist nurse.

We recommend you watch the series if you haven’t already. However, we know that many people have already seen all eight episodes and are asking if a second season will be released. Don’t worry! Below, we’ve posted what we know about a possible Women at War Season 2.

Women at War Season 2 Release Date

As of now, Netflix has not picked up the historical drama for a second season. The chances of a second season are almost zero. The period drama is billed as a limited series, meaning the show will only consist of one season.

Moreover, the first season’s final eight episodes successfully tied up all the loose ends. Having said that, unless they add a fresh line of content, the second season does not leave much room for the story to continue. However, if Women at War is given a second season renewal, it could premiere in sometime in 2024.

Women at War Season 1 Recap

The first season of Women at War opens with the German soldiers marching toward the front lines as the scene is set for World War I. In the middle of all this mayhem, the struggles for survival of four women in France have been brought to light.

The first episode of the series focuses on Marguerite, a recent employee at a nearby brothel who is a Parisian sex worker. Suzanne, the second woman, is a nurse on the run from the military hospital who is looking for safety in Switzerland.

Every episode makes the lives of these women more difficult. It reinforces the idea that, even though their problems are not comparable to those of men fighting in battle, they are nonetheless meaningful. The distinction is that men used military weapons while women used mental ones to fight in times of war.

Despite not being on the front lines, they have acted as leaders in dealing with complex and painful situations, and for that, they should be commended.
