During DC FanDome 2021, HBO Max renews the DC superhero series ‘Titans’ for the fourth season. Release date, cast, plot and everything you need to know.

HBO Max has announced that its superhero series Titans will return for the fourth season. The announcement was part of this year’s DC FanDome event, which revealed trailers, glimpses, and surprising clips from the DC universe’s most popular and anticipated movies, TV shows and video games. The renewal news came a few days before the Titans Season 3 finale that arrived on HBO Max on Oct 21, 2021. Here’s what we know about Titans Season 4 but before that let’s recap Season 3.

What happened in Titans Season 3 and how did it set up Season 4?

Titans Season 3 premiered on Aug 12, 2021, on HBO Max and has impressed fans and critics. It became an instant hit thanks to the gritty and dark narrative. In the third season, the newly-forged team relocates from their lively territory of San Francisco to the dark Gotham City when they come to know that their former teammate Jason Todd (Curran Walters) is murdered.

In the absence of Bruce Wayne (Iain Glen), team Titans needs to protect the city but they find themselves targeted by a resurrected Jason, now calling himself Red Hood. Jason is resurrected by none other than, Jonathan Crane, aka the Scarecrow, who has his own plans to terrorize the city. Now, the Titans must face off against a former member of their team, who is under the control of Scarecrow.

Since its premiere in 2018, the DC superhero series is known to add new superheroes to its list. In the third season, many new faces come into the scene. The first is Barbara Gordon (Savannah Welch), the former Batgirl who has since become Commissioner. Tim Drake (Jay Lycurgo) joins team Titans to support them fight Scarecrow.

The Season 3 finale saw the Titans divide and conquer, applying their distinct sets of skills to save the people of Gotham City citizens who had already been killed by Crane’s poison. (by creating a purple rain cloud of healing Lazarus Pit waters!). They then bust into Wayne Manor to stop Scarecrow from doing more destruction.

Once the team neutralized the threat, Crane was put back behind bars. Despite assisting the Titans in the end, Jason, bid Dick adieu, knowing he can never rejoin the team. Donna left for Paris to be with Dawn, Dick said goodbye to Barbara, and Connor kissed Blackfire goodbye after making things right by devising schematics to rebuild her spaceship.

So, Titans Season 3 come to an end, and this time the series left us with no idea about what’s coming in the next season.

What will be the plot of the fourth season?

Well, it’s unclear what storyline the next season will follow. A lot will depend on the events of the third season finale. Having said that, it is almost confirmed that the creators will add more heroes in the upcoming season. It would be interesting to see, who will be the lead villain of the next season.

Titans Season 4 Cast: Who Will Return?

Brenton Thwaites is definitely returning back as Nightwing. He’ll be joined by other original members Starfire, Beast Boy and Raven, and the remaining superheroes that appeared in the season 3 finale – Superboy, Jay Lycurgo’s Tim Drake and, Krypto the Dog.

Curran Walter’s character is also expected to make a return. With the focus moving away from Gotham City, Barbara Gordon may not have a significant role in Titans Season 4. Blackfire may make a comeback as that kiss in the finale seems to have set up a love story between her and Connor.
