Joel and Ellie appear to be inches from Salt Lake City to meet up with a group of Fireflies who may be able to create a cure for the Cordyceps infection. Joel now loves Ellie like a daughter, but he can’t let go of the original reason for the long trek. Fans learn that Joel and Ellie are targeted on their back in a scenario where they receive a grenade thrown at them.
