Saw X: Release Date, Plot, Cast, Streaming and Everything We Know!

Saw X: The tenth instalment overall in the Saw film series is set to hit the theatres on coming Friday.

The Saw franchise is well-known in Hollywood as one of the most shocking and gory franchises. Whether you’re a devoted enthusiast of the franchise or have merely seen a handful of movies, you’re undoubtedly aware of how intense and gory these movies can get. The franchise has a loyal fan base and despite the poor reception of the last couple of movies, there is excitement around the next movie titled Saw X.

This franchise has stretched the boundaries of what may be shown on screen for nine films, subjecting the characters to various sorts of psychological torture and now it’s getting a tenth.

As the release date of Saw X approaches, fans are asking whether the film will include its iconic traps as well as a fresh mystery to solve. But first, you should know when it will be released. Here’s everything you need to know.

Saw X Release Date

Saw X is set to release in theatres on September 29, 2023. The sequel was originally scheduled to be released on October 27, 2023, but it was likely pushed up to avoid competition with other prominent horror titles being released in October, such as The Exorcist: Believer and Five Nights at Freddy’s.

All Saw franchise movies were released in the month of October (around Halloween) except Spiral (May 14, 2021). Saw X is going to be the second movie to not be released in the month of October. So, this is something of a surprise.

Saw X Plot: What is Saw X About?

The movie features the return of John Kramer, a.k.a. Jigsaw. It is the tenth movie overall in the Saw film series and serves as both a direct sequel to Saw (2004) and a prequel to Saw II (2005).

Set between the events of Saw and Saw II, a sick and desperate John Kramer travels to Mexico in the hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer, only to learn the entire operation is a scam targeting vulnerable individuals. Finding a new purpose, the infamous serial killer and his apprentice abduct the con artists and subject them to a horrifying new series of traps.

Jigsaw, played by Tobin Bell, sets out on a side mission full of dangerous traps while also developing his master plan and training his followers. According to director Kevin Greutert, this story revolves around John Kramer (Jigsaw).

The official synopsis is as follows:

“John Kramer (Tobin Bell) is back. The most disturbing installment of the Saw franchise yet explores the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s most personal game. Set between the events of Saw I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged, and ingenious traps.”

Saw X, despite being an interquel, tries to go back to the key elements that made the first films so captivating: terrifying traps and escape scenarios involving more believable and terrifying tools.
