Damsel is an American fantasy film helmed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo starring Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things and Enola Holmes) as Princess Elodie. As she finds herself in an apparently hopeless survival situation, Elodie realizes that her marriage to a charming prince is a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. She is then thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, having to solely rely on her wits and will to survive.
The actress has made quite an impression on the audience with her previous works, So, the expectations are sky-high now. The film has been in the works since 2020 and is finally set to be released next year, with fans eagerly anticipating its arrival.

When is the Damsel Release Date on Netflix?
Damsel was first announced in March 2020 and began filming in Feb 2022. It’s been more than three years since the film was announced, and we still don’t have an official release date. The film was initially scheduled to debut on Netflix in 2023. However, we found out that Netflix had moved the film out of 2023 and was holding out for confirmation of a 2024 release due to some delay.
This delay affects a number of other Netflix Original Movies that were originally scheduled for 2023, reflecting industry-wide challenges related to fair pay strikes led by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA. ‘Damsel’ was originally scheduled to debut on October 13, 2023, but unfortunately, fans will have to wait until 2024 for it.
What is Damsel about?
The story of Damsel revolves around Princess Elodie, who is deceived into believing she is marrying a prince but finds out instead that she is being offered as a sacrifice to a dragon. In essence, the movie presents a novel interpretation of the classic damsel-in-distress trope that is frequently seen in medieval fantasy settings.
Princess Elodie, who at first agrees to marry Prince Henry, is tricked by her deceitful royal family and ends up trapped in a dangerous cave as a sacrifice to a terrifying dragon. Elodie is forced to face the fire-breathing monster on her own since she won’t have a typical hero to save her.
