2022 has been a terrible year for Bollywood as far as box office numbers are concerned. With mega-budget movies like Laal Singh Chaddha, Samrat Prithviraj, and Bachchan Pandey tanked at the box office, the future is looking bleak. Around 90% of the total Bollywood releases this year have failed at the box office. The struggle is real and all eyes are now set on the following five movies to bring back the good days for Bollywood.
Brahmastra
Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, and Mouni Roy, Brahmastra is probably Bollywood’s first fantasy adventure movie. Mounted on a budget of Rs 400+ Crore, this Ayan Mukerji directional could pave way for something new for Bollywood. After getting delayed multiple times, it will finally release on Sep 9, 2022.
Vikram Vedha Remake
Vikram Vedha is a remake of a 2017 Tamil thriller movie of the same name. While the original had R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupati in lead roles, the Hindi remake stars Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan. Directed by Pushkar–Gayathri, the movie will release on Sep 30, 2022. The presence of two big stars and the remake factor make it one of the hottest Bollywood releases of the year.
Bhaijaan
Salman Khan is the undisputed king of the box office. His next release Bhaijaan is an action comedy with a social message. Directed by Farhad Samji, it is said to be a remake of the 2014 Tamil movie Veeram. Considering Salman’s pull at the box office, one can only expect big crowds in theatres when the movie releases on Dec 30, 2022.
Cirkus
Cirkus is an official adaptation of the 1982 movie Angoor which was based on William Shakespeare’s play The Comedy of Errors. It marks the second collaboration between Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh after the grand success of Simmba. Cirkus also stars Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Varun Sharma, Johny Lever, and Sanjay Mishra among others. The expectations are high from Cirkus because Rohit Shetty is helming it and he has a terrific box office record.
Bhediya
Bhediya starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon is the third installment in Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe. Amar Kaushik who directed Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree is helming the project.
Besides these five movies, a few other movies that can do wonders at the box office are Ram Setu, Thank God, Yodha, Uunchai, Drishyam 2, Pippa and Ganapath,
