Netflix's 'Beef': Release Date, Cast, Plot & Everything We Know

The upcoming dark comedy series starring Wong and Yeun follows two strangers whose lives congregate during a road rage incident.

Netflix is extending its content on the Asian American experience with the release of Beef, a ten-episode dramedy created by Lee Sung Jin. Adapting a series for the big screen is nothing new for Lee Sung Jin, who is also known for creating many successful ventures such as Silicon Valley, Tuca, and Bertie.

The project has benefited from the infusion of exceptional expertise. The release date of this hotly anticipated series is something that fans of the genre are really looking forward to. Therefore, after spending most of 2022 in post-production, the show will be released on Netflix in 2023. Here is everything we know about Beef.

When Will Beef Premiere on Netflix?

Netflix gave the show a series order in 2021 and announced that Steven Yeun and Ali Wong would star in it in co-production with A24. Filming started in April 2022. After being in production for several months, Beef is finally set to premiere on Netflix.

The hotly awaited dark comedy series is set to premiere at the 2023 SXSW Festival on March 18, 2023. It will be released on Netflix on April 6, 2023.

What is it about?

Beef is not a sequel to The Bear (the fantastic Hulu show about a Chicago sandwich shop) as some reports suggested. It is a fresh new dramedy that follows two strangers whose lives converge during a road rage incident. Danny Cho (Yeun) is a failing contractor with a chip on his shoulder, while Amy Lau (Wong) is a self-made entrepreneur with a dramatic life. The road rage results in a series of significant and minor attacks that endanger both of their lives.
