Aquaman 3: DC has made no announcements about the third installment of Aquaman. Here’s everything you need to know!
Aquaman is an American superhero film based on the DC character of the same name. In 2018, James Wan’s Aquaman caused quite a stir as the only DCEU movie to surpass the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. The sequel was announced shortly after the first film’s box-office success. The second installment called the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was released in December 2023.
The plot has elements of DC’s 2015 animated film Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, but Aquaman updates it with a unique flair. Following a hasty attempt to put their cast of heroes on screen, the film received mediocre reviews and fell short of fans’ expectations. As a result, DC has chosen quality over quantity by delaying the creative team’s work on a third installment.

Will there be Aquaman 3?
As of right now, there is very little chance that Aquaman 3 will take place in the new DC Universe, especially since there are no indications about when Aquaman will make his screen debut. Warner Bros. has not disclosed any information regarding the film’s release window, and an official confirmation of the film is still pending. The uncertainty surrounding the DC cinematic universe’s transition makes Aquaman 3’s projected release date even more difficult to predict. As of now, it is an unconfirmed project with an uncertain future.
But does that mean it’s the end of the road for Arthur Curry?
“In my heart of hearts, I hope not,” Momoa told Access Hollywood. “I’ve been playing him for 12 years, I love this character. I have a lot of ideas of what I’d love to do with him. But it really comes down to the audience… I think it’s an amazing movie, I hope it does well, if it does better than the first one, why wouldn’t they make another one? That’s just me being realistic.”

“The plans I have for more are amazing,” he said. “What’s interesting is there’s a lot of things that can happen within this world because… I’m going to get in so much trouble for this… There’s four different Batmans, there’s five different Spider-Mans, there’s all these different things. No-one’s replacing me, but there’s always going to be something that’s next. And I already have a son. So the family dynamic is there, all these things are going to happen, I’m still part of the world, it’s the next generation.”
