Since March 2020, we haven’t seen any big release in theatre thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Till March 2020, Bollywood’s 100 Crore Club was expanding at a rapid pace. More and more movies were making it to the elite 100 crore club thanks to big stars, big-budget, higher ticket prices, and wider releases.
Till now 90 Hindi movies have made it to the 100 crore club with Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior being the latest one. It took six days to achieve this feat. Out of these 90 movies, 12 movies crossed the 100 crore mark on the third day.

It’s good to see that apart from big star cast and big-budget movies, low-budget movies have also made it to the list of Bollywood’s 100 crore club. Movies like Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Ek Villain, 2 States, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Grand Masti, Chhichhore, Dream Girl, Badhaai Ho have really changed the equation of 100 crores club.

- Aamir Khan’s Ghajini released in 2008 was the first movie to cross the 100 crore mark in India.
- Salman Khan has the highest number (15) of 100 crore movies to his name.
- Talking about actresses, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Katrina Kaif has seven movies each.
- Rohit Shetty is the most successful director with eight 100 crore movies to his name.
