Akshay Kumar’s latest release ‘Ram Setu’ is off to a decent start at the box office. Will it be Akshay Kumar’s fourth consecutive flop of 2022?
Released today in theatres, Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu is off to an average opening at the box office. The day after Diwali is considered one of the biggest days for the Bollywood box office. Families come in big numbers to theatres but it isn’t the case with Ram Setu at least in multiplexes. The movie opened to a low start but gained some momentum in the later part of the day.

Akshay Kumar starrer is off to a poor opening as it recorded around 15% occupancy in the morning shows. Despite mixed reports, the movie gained momentum in the second half of the day when mass centres comes into play.
The movie saw a huge turnaround in the evening shows which helped the movie to post decent opening day numbers. As per early reports, Ram Setu collected around Rs 15 Crore on its opening day. This is a decent number considering how poor the opening was in the morning shows. However, the opening day numbers are still short of trade expectations (Rs 18 to 20 Crore).
It is the biggest opening for Akshay in 2022 beating Bachchan Pandey which collected Rs 13.25 Crore on its opening day.
The real problem with Ram Setu is the negative reports. Once the holiday period gets over, it would be difficult for the film to sustain at the box office. Ram Setu may become Akshay Kumar’s fourth consecutive flop of 2022. However, we need to wait and watch.

However, things took a drastic turn for Akshay since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world. With a big list of movies already completed, he was forced to release a few of them directly on digital platforms.

Akshay Kumar needs to work on his choices and doing 5 to 6 movies in a year is not working for him anymore. Moreover, most of his movies are mediocre with nothing exceptional to get excited about.
