Salman Khan’s Eid release, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, has opened to low numbers at the box office.
Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is off to a low opening at the box office. Released a day before Eid, the movie was expected to do much better than it has on its opening day. The movie marks Khan’s return to the big screen in the lead role after a gap of more than 3 years. As per trade expert Taran Adarsh, KKBKKJ collected Rs 15.81 Crore on its opening day.
#KisiKaBhaiKisiKiJaan is underwhelming on Day 1… More so when one compares it with #SalmanKhan’s #Eid releases from 2010 to 2019… Metros weak, mass pockets better, but not great… Extremely important for biz to jump multi-fold today [#Eid]… Fri ₹ 15.81 cr. #India biz. #KBKJ pic.twitter.com/tqvpJbmRrR

This is definitely a low opening considering that it is a Salman Khan movie arriving on Eid. Ideally, the movie should have taken a start of Rs 25 Crore. Well, things have changed a lot for Bollywood after the Covid-19 pandemic. The industry has been struggling to pull audiences to theatres. However, Salman Khan was expected to pull the audience much like how Shah Rukh did it with Pathaan.
Second highest opening of 2023
Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback movie Pathaan, which was released in January, took a record-breaking opening of Rs 57 Crore. The third-highest opening of the year belongs to Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs 15.73 Crore).
KKBKKJ is not even in the top 10 Salman Khan’s openers
KKBKKJ becomes the lowest opening day grosser for Salman Khan in the last decade. Before the Covid-19 pandemic shook the industry, Salman Khan Eid releases used to take an opening of Rs 30+ Crore. His last Eid release, Bharat (2019), collected Rs 42.3 Crore on its first day. Here’s a look at Salman Khan’s top 10 opening day grossers.
It would be interesting to see how Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan performs at the box office in the coming days. It is expected to see a huge growth in numbers today due to the Eid holiday.
Directed by Farhad Samji, KKBKKJ also features an ensemble of Pooja Hegde, Shehnaaz Gill, Venkatesh Daggubati, Palak Tiwari, Raghav Juyal, and others.
