Box Office Verdict Of Bollywood Movies Released On Diwali Since 2011

Box Office Verdict of Bollywood Movies Released On Diwali Since 2011

Salman Khan is all set for a grand Diwali release with “Tiger 3.” In previous years, he has been a dominant force at the box office during Eid. In fact, most of his blockbusters including Sultan, and Bajrangi Bhaijaan were released on Eid. However, this year, he has chosen to take on the challenge of captivating two of India’s most significant festivals.  While fans loved the Eid releases, “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan,” and now looking forward to have a blast in theatres with Tiger 3.

Tiger 3 is expected to take a roaring start at the box office. The trailer has been received well and being a threequel of a successful franchise, there is a lot of buzz around its release. Diwali has always been a successful release period for Bollywood movies.

Most of the Bollywood movies released during Diwali in pre-Covid era were big hits. However, things changed post Covid.

Akshay Kumar’s initial attempt to lure audiences back to theatres was with Rohit Shetty’s “Sooryavanshi.” However, the film didn’t quite achieve blockbuster status, falling short of a clear-cut hit. In fact, the year 2022 witnessed box office disappointments with “Ram Setu” and “Thank God.”

Now the onus is on Salman Khan to bring back old glorious Diwali days for Bollywood. The advance booking reports of Tiger 3 suggest that Salman Khan is set for a big comeback after some mediocre movies in Radhe and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.

As Tiger 3 is set to rule the box office, here’s a look at how Bollywood’s Diwali releases have performed at the box office since 2011.
