Eid has always been a good release occasion for Bollywood movies. Movies released around this time have often emerged as huge hits at the box office. The same is expected from Tiger Shroff’s Heropanti 2 and Ajay Devgn’s Runway 34. However, both movies opened to low numbers on Friday.
Heropanti 2 Box Office Collection Day 1
Tiger Shroff’s Heropanti 2 was one of the most anticipated movies of the year. It was expected to take a big opening but the actual numbers are not even half of what trade experts predicted. As per early estimates, Heropanti 2 collected around Rs 8 Crore on Day 1. It is one of the lowest opening days for Tiger in recent years.
Runway 34 Box Office Collection Day 1
The other release of the week, Ajay Devgn’s Runway 34 is off to a terrible opening. Early estimates suggest that the first-day collection of Runway 34 is around Rs 4 Crore. This is genuinely a terrible opening by all measures considering the star cast of the movie. In fact, it is the lowest opening for an Ajay Devgn movie in the last two decades.
Both movies are banking on the Eid holiday next week but the poor opening is a matter of concern now. Heropanti 2 is a mass movie and one can expect it to witness a decent jump over the weekend and record even higher numbers on Eid day. However, KGF 2 will be its biggest competitor. Running in its third week, KGF 2 is still churning big money at the box office.
Ajay Devgn’s Runway 34 has received exceptional reviews from critics. It would be interesting to see if these reviews and positive WOM convert into big numbers in the coming days.
