Shahrukh Khan and Kajol starer Dilwale is off to a tremendous opening at the domestic Box Office. As per the early reports, Dilwale 1st day collection is 21 crores. Released on around 3000 screens, Dilwale opened to a tremendous occupancy of 70% in the morning shows which further increased to 80% in afternoon and evening shows. The overall occupancy on the first day was 75% which is exceptional considering the usual Friday and clash with Bajirao Mastani.
As expected, Dilwale thrashed the other release Bajirao Mastani in every region except Maharashtra. The movie performed exceptionally well in West Bengal, Chennai, East Punjab and Delhi.
Dilwale 1st day collection – 21 Crores (Official Collection)
With 23 crores Dilwale will be the third highest opening day of 2015 behind Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (40.35 crores) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (27.25 crores).
Dilwale is Shahrukh Khan’s 3rd highest opening day grosser after Happy New Year (44.97 crores) and Chennai Express (33.12 crores). The movie is highest opening day grosser for Varun Dhawan, Kajol, and Kriti Sanon.
Dilwale is 16th highest opening of all time in Bollywood beating the opening day collection of Singh Is Bling (20.67 crores), Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (19.46 crores) and Ra.One (18.38 crores). Despite a big opening day, Dilwale was affected by its clash with Bajirao Mastani. If Dilwale was released solely, then it could have collected around 33 crores on its opening day.
The total budget of the movie is around 110 crores excluding SRK’s salary. Considering the performance on the 1st day, we can expect the movie to recover its budget by the end of the first week.
