It has been the case with almost all Akshay Kumar movies till date. His movies take big opening, make good money in the first week but failed to make it big at the box office. Akshay Kumar has so far delivered seven 100 crore movies but none of it managed to cross even 140 crores. Akshay Kumar’s highest grossing movie is Rowdy Rathore (134 crores) which was released way back in June 2012.
Akshay Kumar’s latest release Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was released on 11 Aug 2017. The movie had a superb opening week with the collection of 96 crores. Everyone was expecting the movie to cross at least 150 crores but the movie witnessed a huge drop in the second week and after 21 days the total collection of the movie stands at 132.5 crores.
After a huge opening week, Trade experts were assured that Toilet: Ek Prem Katha will make it big a the box office but that didn’t happen. Like Akshay Kumar’s four releases, Airlift, Housefull 3, Rustom and Jolly LLB 2, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha fails to become the top grosser of 2017.
Even in his dream phase Akshay Kumar is not able to make cross 150 crores while Aamir, Salman and Shah Rukh have delivered 200 crore movies. Even new stars like Ranveer, Ranbir have delivered 150 crore grossers.
The big reason why Akshay Kumar movies are not able to make it big at the box office is that the actor delivers more than 3 movies a year. Moreover, most of his movies are non- festive releases and it certainly affects the business by 30 to 40 crores.
All eyes are now on Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movies. He has some very good mass movies like Kesar, Gold and Robot 2 slated for release in 2018. His fans would be hoping these movies to make it big at the box office.
