From Akira, Ittefaq to her latest release Khandaani Shafakhana, it has been long since Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha is trying to break away from her image of the conventional heroine by experimenting with different kinds of movies.
However, all the experiment of Sonakshi, who left the benchmark with her performance in ‘Lootera’ is not just failing to impress the audience but also aren’t able to translate into big numbers at the box-office.
Her latest movie Khandaani Shafakhana hit the screens on August 2, also got a dull start at the box-office. Despite having an interesting storyline, the movie failed to attract the crowd to theatres, thus resulting in a poor start. Reportedly, the film made only Rs 1 crore (approx) on Friday.
Talking about the movie, ‘Khandaani Shafakhana’ is a hilarious take on the taboo topic – sex. The movie revolves around Baby Bedi, the character played by Sonakshi Sinha, who inherits a sex clinic after her uncle’s death. She has to run the sex-clinic for six months before she can finally sell it off.
Living in the 21st century, it’s a matter of shame that Sex is still considered as a taboo in our society, however, it’s great to see filmmakers now coming out and talking about important issues. ‘Khandaani Shafakhana’ also talks about the importance of sex education in one’s life.
‘Khandaani Shafakhana’ also stars Varun Sharma and Badshah in prominent roles and is directed by Shilpi Dasgupta.
