Since its debut on the big screen in 1995, the Toy Story franchise has been a huge success. Fans have since praised the story, characterization, and overall creativity of the franchise.
And now, according to Disney CEO Bob Iger, Toy Story 5 has been confirmed and is actively being developed. However, the release window is still a mystery.
Although the official cast for Toy Story 5 has not yet been revealed, it is expected that key characters from the previous film, including Woody, Buzz, and the new characters from Toy Story 4, will return.
Fans who feel that Andy's story was resolved in Toy Story 3 have mixed feelings about the possibility that he will make a cameo in Toy Story 5.
Nothing has been confirmed about the film's plot. Since Toy Story 5 is still in development, leaks have not yet surfaced. However, the fourth Toy Story film, like the previous ones, was both an ending and the possibility of a new beginning. Thus a brand-new story will be told in the fifth installment.
Based on the previous films' release cycles, we could be waiting up to four or five years for Toy Story 5, with a release window in 2027-2028. Nevertheless, Pixar's slate presently includes three untitled films with release dates of June 2025, March 2026, and June 2026. So, it's possible that Toy Story 5 will be released in June 2026.
Toy Story 5, like the previous installments, will be released in theaters. And once its theatrical run is over, it will be available digitally on Disney +.
