Netflix has announced that the third season of Heartstopper has officially wrapped filming. Thus, fans can now look forward to seeing more of Nick and Charlie's romance.
Heartstopper is an uplifting LGBTQ+ drama about teenage friendship and young romance. The series primarily follows Charlie Spring, a gay high school student who falls in love with his classmate Nick Nelson, whom he sits next to in his new form.
The third season will deal with the aftermath of the second season, which featured the Truham Grammar High School students traveling to Europe. The story will begin with the lead couple and their friends returning home following a hard summer.
Besides lead characters Connor and Locke, Yasmin Finney will reprise her Elle Argent role alongside William Gao as Tao Xu, Rhea Norwood as Imogen Heaney, Kizzy Edgell as Darcy Olssen, Corinna Brown as Tara Jones, and Tobie Donovan as Isaac Henderson.
Unfortunately, Ben Hope played by Sebastian Croft will not be coming back for Season 3, as it became clear in the previous season that he had moved on.
Although a release date has not yet been set, post-production for the new episodes of Heartstopper will begin in the first few months of 2024, given that the third season's filming wrapped up right before the holidays.
Heartstopper Season 3 is anticipated to have eight episodes, much like the previous two.
Last but not least, Heartstopper season 2 adapted Alice Oseman's Heartstopper, Volume 3, the creator-writer disclosed that new storylines from season 2 were cut from the book. Given this, Heartstopper, Volume 4 may serve as the basis for Season 3.
