Adding another one to the line of biopics, Vidya Balan has started prepping for writer Kamala Das’s biopic Aami.

Vidya Balan will soon be seen protraying the role of the celebrated Malayalam writer Kamala Das. To be directed by veteran Malayalam filmmaker Kamal, Vidya Balan has started prepping for writer Kamala Das’s biopic Aami by reading her auto-biography ‘My Story’.

Vidya took to twitter to share the news-

Kamala Surayya is also known by her one-time pen name Madhavikutty and Kamala Das. Shw was born in a conservative Hindu Nair family having royal ancestry. She converted to Islam at the age of 65 and assumed the name Kamala Surayya. At the age of 42, she published a daring autobiography, “My Story”. It was originally written in Malayalam (titled as Ente Katha) and later she translated it into English. She had even admitted at one point that much of the autobiography had fictional elements.

The first schedule of Aami is scheduled to start rolling in Kerala from September 25. It will be over by November 5. Following a break, it will then be shot in Mumbai and Delhi. The movie will be Vidya’s debut in Malayalam films. Whether the movie will be bilingual or not is not yet known.
