2015 was a year filled with controversies through and through! From Aamir Khan to Kareena Kapoor to  Shah Rukh Khan – no one was spared! Let’s take you on a journey of the top 11 Controversies of 2015 which shocked Bollywood to the core!

1. Kareena Kapoor Khan and ‘Love Jihad’!

A morphed picture of Kareena Kapoor Khan on a VHP magazine Himalaya Dhwani’s cover. The cover has been designed to set a warning against ‘love jihad’. Her face is half covered with a niqab and had a caption underneath that read “Conversion of nationality through religious conversion”. Bewildered husband Saif Ali Khan angrily slammed VHP’s campaign saying, “It’s ridiculous and not surprising, but these uneducated and bigoted ideas are the worst of India and condemning them is important.” Kareena ended up hiring two bodyguards as a precautionary measure.

2. Aamir Khan’s comments on Intolerance!

Aamir Khan was in the news for the wrong reasons once again when he said India is so Intolerant that he and his wife Kiran are planning to move to another country for the safety of their kids. Bollywood reacted in different ways to his comments, some were shocked while some agreed with his point. But Aamir stood his ground and did not revert back from his comments.

3. Aditya Pancholi vandalized a nightclub and slapped a co-actor!

Aditya Pancholi was at the Trilogy nightclub with a friend. When a wasted Aditya requested the DJ to play some Hindi songs instead of English tracks, the bouncers had to intervene and ask him to leave. The actor lashed out and began abusing. Mandar Patole, one of the bouncers, tried to escort Pancholi out, but he flipped out and hit the bouncer’s head with his mobile phone, causing him severe injury. Pancholi also damaged the glass counter at the bar in the ruckus. He was arrested and granted bail later. He is even said to have slapped co-actor Vije Bhatia on the set of their upcoming film, ‘Lakhon Hain Yahan Dilwale’!

4. Kapil Sharma gets drunk and misbehaves with female celebs!

Kapil Sharma reportedly was high on alcohol and misbehaved with Tanisha Mukherji, Monali Thakur and some other female stars at the International Marathi Film Festival award (IMFF) 2015. Reports said, Preeti Simoes, who is supposed to be Kapil’s girlfriend, was also present and left the place embarrassed by his behavior. Apparently, his performance at the event was also canceled. He later tweeted this “I fall, I rise, I make mistakes, I live, I learn, I’ve been hurt but I am alive.i am human, I am not perfect, but I am thankful :)”

5. Mahima Choudhary & her Swiss Bank Account!

The Special Investigative Team(SIT) appointed for the recovery of black money stashed in foreign accounts decided that 427 account holders out of 628 cases were ‘actionable.’ One such account was under Mahima Choudhary‘s real name Ritu Chaudhary, noted as a ‘model and an actress’ in the account details. Although, the actress rubbished having any such account, Twitter was flooded with jokes on the matter. This indeed brought her to the limelight though for very wrong reasons.

6. Deepika Padukone’s My Choice!

Deepika Padukone broke the Internet with her powerful video about women’s empowerment. In the video, she talked about ‘My Choice’ but she faced a lot of criticism for talking about topics which are plain bizarre. The line “to have sex outside marriage…” caught a lot of attention but Deepika later said that she never intended to promote infidelity in a relationship through the short film. It sure led to a lot of trolls on Twitter.

7. Prakash Jaju’s nasty allegations on Priyanka Chopra!

Prakash Jaju is Priyanka Chopra‘s ex-secretary who was sentenced to jail time for sending threatening and obscene messages to the actress. He tweeted a whole lot of stuff with his side of the story of what happened at that time like ‘yeh sab uske father ki chaal thi’, ‘maine pc ko banaaya, phir pc ne mujhe banaayaa…ullu’. He announced a film in collaboration with Priyanka’s ex-boyfriend, Aseem Merchant which will be about his life as Priyanka’s manager– which was full of ups and downs, leading to the prison time in 2008.

8. Kushal Tandon and Ameesha Patel’s Twitter War!

Kushal Tandon tweeted a long message where he had a lot to say about a particular girl not getting up when our National Anthem began while he was at a theater watching a movie. Many people came up with different reactions on the topic. The girl turned out to be Ameesha Patel. She accepted it was her two days after Kushal’s tweet. This lead to a massive Twitter war between the two, forcing Ameesha to talk about her ‘girly problems’! Kushal Tandon in turn responded with a justification.

9. Shah Rukh Khan called a ‘Pakistani agent’!

VHP leader Sadhvi Prachi termed Shah Rukh Khan a ‘Pakistani agent’, who should be sent to that country after the superstar added his voice to the protest against ‘intolerance’ in the country. She said, “Shah Rukh Khan is an agent of neighboring country Pakistan as he reflects their (Pakistan’s) ideology. Such a man should go to Pakistan.” All of Bollywood came out in support of Shah Rukh Khan. Mumbai Police even beefed up his security after this.

10. Abhijeet Bhattacharya booked for Sexual Harassment!

A 34-year-old woman filed a police complaint in which she accused singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya of touching her inappropriately and abusing her during a performance of Kailash Kher. The incident apparently happened at Lokhandwala Durga Puja where Abhijeet was one of the organizers. The charges of sexual harassment and ‘intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace’ were listed in the complaint. Abhijeet said he didn’t even knew the woman.

I feel like I should mention these two incidents specially-

Drunk Hard Kaur abused guests at a Karva Chauth programme!

Hard Kaur was performing at a Karwa Chauth event when a few kids tried to climb the stage making her angry, after which she threw the microphone towards the audience. It was claimed that she was drunk and abused the guests. Insiders revealed that the police was called, but none of the guests lodged a complaint against her. Later, the singer and her team apologized for their behavior.

‘Farah Ki Dawat’ was originally Pooja Missra’s idea!

According to Pooja Missra, Farah Khan’s show ‘Farah Ki Daawat’ is a plagiarized version of her show ‘Pooja Misrra Productions’ cookery show, causing her a lot of traumas. The legal notice sent by Pooja says, “All boundaries of professionalism and decency were crossed when Colors went ahead and plagiarized ‘Pooja Misrra Productions’ maiden cookery show, written, directed, produced and anchored by my client herself by putting on air, Farah Ki Daawat. This lead to severe health, professional and financial losses for my client and scarred her career for life.”

That’s a whole lot of controversies for one year right?
