Blog To Bollywood presents the exclusive theatrical trailer of the upcoming social drama Lakshmi. It is directed by Nagesh Kukunoor who is best known for films with social issues. Some of his works are Iqbal, Dor, Aashayein, Rockford, Hyderabad Blues and many more.
The movie is presented by Pen India Pvt. Ltd, Kukunoor Movies, Uv News Media & Communication Limited, and produced by Pramod Sharma, Satish Kaushik, Nagesh Kukunoor andElahe Hiptoola.
The female singer Monali Thakur (her famous songs are Sawaar Loon from Lootera, Zara Zara Touch Me from Race ) is making her acting debut with Lakshmi by playing the title role.
The movie focuses on the serious issue of sex trafficking of girls and forced prostitution. Lakshmi (Monali Thakur) is also one of those girls who shows courage and stand against this menacing trade.
The other members of the star cast features Shefali Shah playing the mistress of a brothel, Satish Kaushik will be seen in negative role, Nagesh himself is acting too and will play the role of a pimp and Ram Kapoor plays a lawyer.
The movie is slated for March 21, 2014 release.
