The Batman hits a major box office milestone ahead of its digital release on HBO Max.

Warner Bros.’ The Batman is all set to make its digital debut on April 18, 2022. Ahead of its digital premiere, director Matt Reeves’ dark superhero drama movie has reached a major box office milestone at the worldwide box office.

According to DeadlineThe Batman earned $751.1 million worldwide after Easter Sunday. So far, it earned $386.1 million overseas and $365 million domestically. This makes it the highest-grossing movie in 2022 so far.

The top ten overseas markets for The Batman includes the UK ($53.2 million), Mexico ($30.7 million), Australia ($27 million), France ($25.9 million), Brazil ($22.6 million), and China ($22.5 million).

WB’s President of Domestic Distribution, Jeff Goldstein, celebrated this milestone as he said, “The incredible response we’ve seen at theaters across the country is a testament to both the enduring power of this iconic DC Super Hero and the huge appetite out there to experience great movies on the big screen. We congratulate everyone involved on reaching this impressive milestone.”

Though many fans may be disappointed that the movie did not reach the coveted $1 billion mark, $750 million is a pretty solid number. Moreover, fans across the world have loved the movie. The movie has garnered a positive response from critics and audiences alike.

The Batman digital debut on HBO Max

The Batman is about to make its digital debut on HBO Max as it is still going strong at the worldwide box office. It will also debut on HBO on Saturday, April 23 at 8 pm ET.

WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar confirmed The Batman would have a similar release schedule as Warner Bros.’ other recent releases, which hit streaming 45 days after theatrical release.

“Think about when movies would show up on HBO, which is eight to nine months after the theatrical premiere,” Kilar said. “The Batman is going to show up on day 46 on HBO Max… That is a huge change from where things were in 2018, 2017, 2016.”
