The last two years have been difficult for the film industry with COVID emerging as the biggest barrier. The industry suffered a huge financial loss. The Telugu film industry aka Tollywood has also got hit hard by the pandemic. Only a few movies managed to make it to the theatres and out of those very few like Krack, Pushpa: The Rise & Akhanda managed to bring some glory.

2022 started with new hope but the third wave of the pandemic forced the filmmakers to reschedule their big releases. Several big Telugu movies including RRR, Radhe Shyam, Bheemla Nayak, Sarkaru Vaari Paata and Acharya were postponed again. With the situation improved now and COVID restriction lifted, the audiences are eager to get back to theatres. The filmmakers have announced the fresh release date for their mega projects. In this series, Feb 25, 2022, is going to be a big day for Tollywood as two biggies will debut in theatres. Let’s have a look:

Bheemla Nayak 

Bheemla Nayak is one of the most awaited Telugu movies of 2022 and fans are restless to watch it on the big screen. Starring Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati in lead roles, Bheemla Nayak is a remake of the 2020 Malayalam film Ayyappanum Koshiyum. The Telugu action drama directed by Saagar K Chandra is expected to set the box office on fire.

Ghani

Ghani is a sports drama film written and directed by Kiran Korrapati. After being delayed many times due to the pandemic, it is now set to release on Feb 25, 2022. Starring Varun Tej in a titular role, it also features Saiee Manjrekar, Jagapathi Babu, Upendra, Suniel Shetty and Naveen Chandra.

Gangubai Kathiawadi

Earlier slated for release on Feb 18, Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi will now hit the big screens on Feb 25. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the movie is a biographical drama and portrays the life of young Gangubai who begins her life as a sex worker and in no time marks her own territory and becomes Gangubai – a madame in the red light area of Kamathipura. Interestingly, Gangubai Kathiawadi is also launching in Telugu.
