Filmmaker Karan Johar has finally announced the release date of his most ambitious film Takht. The historical drama film will release on 21 Dec 2021. Takht stars Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor.

Karan Johar took to Twitter to announce the release date of the film. He tweeted, “Presenting #TAKHT. Produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar & Apoorva Mehta. Screenplay by Sumit Roy. Starring Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor AND Anil Kapoor. Releasing Christmas, 24.12.2021.”

In another tweet, Karan shared a teaser and informed that the film will go on floors in March 2020. In the video, a voiceover says, “Mughal shehzaadon ke liye Takht ka raasta apno ke taboot se hokar jaata tha. Agar yeh raasta mohabbat se hokar jaata toh shayad Hindustan ka itihaas kuch aur hota.”

The fans are super elated as the release date of the film is confirmed now. In fact, some of them have already declared it a blockbuster on social media. Takht is Karan Johar’s ambitious project. The expectations are huge as big names like Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are working in it.

Takht is set in the Mughal era. It is about the enmity between brothers for the succession of the Throne. While Vicky Kaushal plays Aurangzeb, Ranveer Singh plays Dara Shikoh, Aurangzeb’s elder brother. Anil Kapoor is reportedly playing Shah Jahan in the film. Bhumi plays Nadira Banu Begum (Ranveer’s wife) while Alia will play Dilras Banu Begum (Vicky Kaushal’s wife).
