Stree 1st Day Collection, Budget and Box Office Economics

Filmy Fridays can be so unpredictable and this is what exactly happened yesterday. It was Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao’s Stree vs Deol’s Yamlaa Paglaa Deewana Phir Se. While everyone was expecting YPDPS to have a better start, Stree puts up a big surprise. The movie has taken a fair opening at the box office. Let’s have a look at Stree 1st day collection and box office economics.

Stree 1st Day Collection: Good Opening

Stree is off to a very good opening at the domestic box office. The movie has a fair start in the morning shows with occupancy in the range of 25% to 30%. With good reviews coming, the movie witnessed good jump in numbers in the second half of the day. As per reports coming, the first day collection of the movie will be in the range of 6 to 7 crores. This is a very good numbers for a movie which clashed with Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se. Stree has comfortably beaten YPDPS on the first day.

The main reason behind this strong opening is the strong trailer of the film. The other reason is the high octane promotion in the last three weeks.

The first day collection of Stree will be in the same range as Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. It would be interesting to see if Stree can put big numbers in the coming days like SKTKS.

The total budget of the movie is 20 crores as shared by the producers.

Production Cost: 11 Crores

Prints & Advertising Cost: 9 Crores

Released on around 1800 screens, the movie needs to earn 30 crores to be called a hit at the box office. Well, considering the kind of opening it has taken at the box office, one can expect this number to be achieved within the first week itself.
