  • Netflix renewed its popular sci-fi horror mystery show Stranger Things for the fourth season in Sep 2019.
  • Stranger Things Season 4 is split into two parts. It will be the penultimate season of the series.

Stranger Things is a popular American web series that first aired on Netflix in July 2016 and became pretty popular on the first day of its release itself. This show is a science fiction teen drama that involves a mysterious monster and it uncovers some dark secret truths. Stranger Things attracted record viewership on Netflix and has a young and international fan base. The viewers of this show claim that if you have watched Stranger Things, it has definitely made it to your favorite list of shows.

After three super successful seasons, Netflix renewed the show for a fourth season in Sep 2019. Here’s everything we know about the fourth season of Stranger Things, from its release date to production updates, and cast members.

Stranger Things Season 4 Release Date

As we mentioned earlier, Netflix renewed the show for a fourth season back in Sep 2019.

Originally, the makers were planning to release the fourth season of Stranger Things in 2020 but that didn’t happen all thanks to the pandemic.

In an Instagram Q&A back in March 2020, David Harbour stated that he thought new episodes were “supposed to come out early next year” (although he admitted he didn’t have “authority” on that).

In late October, Natalia Dyer (Nancy) told The Independent that it’s going to be “a while” before we see anything new.

After waiting for more than 2.5 years, Stranger Things Season 4 gets a premiere date. The new season is split into two parts. Part 1 will drop on Netflix on May 27, 2022, followed by Part 2 on July 1, 2022. (Stranger Things Season 4 Release Schedule)

In a letter written by Matt and Ross Duffer, they announced why they split season 4 and the decision to end the show with the fifth season. (Stranger Things Season 5 Renewal Update.)

Stranger Things Season 4 Trailer

Netflix announced the fourth season on September 30, 2019, just two months after the third season premiere. The announcement was made through a video that dropped on the show’s official Twitter handle with the caption “We’re not in Hawkins anymore”.

On February 14, 2020, as a welcome gift on valentine’s day, Netflix dropped a teaser of season 4 with the caption “From Russia with love” where Hopper can be seen as working for the Russians. However, fans were pleased to see Hopper alive.

The second tease came over a year later in May 2021 with the title “Eleven, are you listening?”.

The third teaser came as part of Netflix’s TUDUM event called “Creel House.”

The fourth and final teaser titled Welcome to California was released on Nov 6, 2021.

Netflix finally drops the trailer, sending the fans in frenzy. Watch the trailer right here:

Stranger Things Season 4 Plot

In the climax of season 3, we saw Hopper being trapped or dead in an experimental cell and we also saw Eleven move out with Joyce to live with her. As Hopper was dead there was no one to look after Eleven. Season 3 ends on a tragic note.

However, after the release of the season 4 teaser, we saw Hopper being alive and working with the Russians. In this upcoming season, we can expect Hopper to unveil some dark truths about the secret experiments of the Russians and we can expect kids moving out of Hawkins to solve the ongoing mystery. A number of fans’ theories are out on Reddit. You can read it right here.

Netflix also shared the synopsis for the fourth season:

“It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”

Stranger Things Season 4 Cast

Another reason for the show’s immense popularity is its cast members. Other than the show, the attractive cast has a huge fanbase and fans love the friendship they share. We have seen these cast kids grow in sets themselves that is why the fans feel more connected to them.
