Mrs Funnybones AKA Twinkle Khanna, is back with a bang with another solid hit book titled ‘The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad’. After she released her first book last year – ‘Mrs.Funnybones’, which was the highest selling female author book, the pre-orders for her second book have been pouring in very well too.
Twinkle Khanna kept a launch party of ‘The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad’ in Mumbai and it was hosted by her childhood friend Karan Johar. Also, present at the launch event to support Twinkle were her mother Dimple Kapadia, son Aarav Kumar, husband Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Shabana Azmi, Farah Khan Ali and Sonali Bendre. Twinkle Khanna made the event very lively with her witty one-liners and humor.
Some highlights from the event were:
- When journalists asked her Is she is a feminist? Twinkle had the best reply. “Journalists ask me ‘are you a..a..a feminist?’ like they are asking if I’m a Satanist or a Justin Bieber fan. Feminism is about equal opportunities so anyone who says they aren’t a feminist is an idiot.”
- Twinkle defined the beauty standards set by people these days. “My granny would always moan about the fact that I never brushed my hair and my mom would always try to put me on a diet and I would tell her I wouldn’t fit in. I would ask her why do I need to fit in a size for a dress?”
- On why Akshay Kumar is the best thing happened to her. “This book is dedicated to him (Akshay Kumar). He is my biggest cheerleader, my greatest support. He is a man who takes more pride in my work than anyone ever has, including my mother who is all the time kind of… Like somebody came up to her and said, ‘Your daughter is a good writer’ and she shouted and said, ‘This junglee?! So, I am very fortunate to have this man with me!”
- On her equation with childhood friend Karan Johar. “Talking about her equation with KJo, she said, “He’s like the 100 rupee note. It’s always in your pocket but in crunch time you realize how valuable it is.”
On a higher note, Twinkle is very happy with all the love and appreciation she has been getting for her book. “Ever since the book hit the market, a number of industry people — producers, directors, and actors — have been calling her to acquire the rights to different short stories from the same book,” a source reportedly revealed to a daily. Twinkle will apparently take a call on giving away the rights of the books only after she discusses it with her husband, Akshay Kumar. He is currently shooting in Mathura for ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’.
