Shamshera First Day Box Office Collection: Ranbir Kapoor’s comeback film ‘Shamshera’ has taken a poor start at the box office.

Released amidst a lot of expectations, Ranbir Kapoor’s historical decoit drama ‘Shamshera’ was a no show at the box office on its opening day. The movie marks the return of Ranbir Kapoor to the big screen after a hiatus of four years. The trailer of the movie raised expectations and with good pre-release hype, trade was expecting a positive opening. However, the movie has failed to live up to the hype and the opening day numbers are way below expectations.

Released on around 4350 screens, Shamshera is the widest Bollywood release post-pandemic. Despite heavy promotion and aggressive release, Ranbir Kapoor starrer recorded poor occupancy across the country.

The movie is touted to be the biggest Bollywood mass entertainer of the year. However, it failed to touch even 25% occupancy in mass centers. As per an Indian Express report, several shows were canceled on the first day due to low occupancy,

Shamshera’s first-day box office collection is Rs 10.15 Crore. In fact, the opening day numbers of Ranbir’s film are less than YRF’s other big project of the year, Samrat Prithviraj which earned Rs 10.7 crore on its opening day. It is the 9th highest opening day grosser for Ranbir Kapoor.

Shamshera is receiving negative reviews for its slow pace and boring screenplay. The critics and audience rejected the movie on the very first day. So, it is going to be a tough road ahead for Ranbir Kapoor’s film. Samrat Prithviraj was a huge flop and it seems that Shamshera will meet the same fate.

Shamshera is the fifth highest opener of 2022

While everyone was expecting Shamshera to register the biggest opening of 2022 for Bollywood. However, the actual opening day numbers are way below expectations. It is the first highest Bollywood opener of 2022.
