Despite being a good, realistic film, the box office collections of Fan are weak. Shah Rukh Khan talks about Fan collections and it’s rumored sequel.

Shah Rukh Khan gave us a realistic movie in the form of Fan after a long line of masala films like Happy New Year, Dilwale. But unfortunately, despite getting a good response from the critics, Fan didn’t do so well at the Box Office. Shah Rukh Khan talks about Fan collections and it’s rumored sequel, this is what he has to say-

“It’s not a film that heartland audience (masses) will like. But we took a chance thinking hopefully they will like it, but they need song and dance. I am not unrealistic” the actor was quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India. While we were making Swades, I had told Ashutosh Gowariker that hope you know this film will not make much business as the other commercial films do. But he had the guts to make a film like Swades with a star like me. I think this is what we should celebrate. When a new kind of filmmaker comes, and makes something different with new people as he doesn’t have access to others stars, I really appreciate that. I think it is more appreciated when an established director, producer, star does something unusual like Fan.”

Shah Rukh Khan also said that doing something different keeps him going. “As a person, it keeps me going as I feel I have done something different. It also enhances your way of making cinema. Then after six months you can make a commercial film. Will Smith does that, he makes a film for numbers as well one those which don’t make that much. I feel most actors should try and make that.”

Shah Rukh Khan expected that the movie will not appeal to the audience universally. He says maintaining a balance between the audience in the heartland and the more intellectual moviegoers is a tough task. According to him, there is thinking and talking audience that sees world cinema and assumes our cinema should reach there soon. Then there is an audience in the heartland of the country which believes still in values and thoughts and entertainment in a certain way.

When asked about the possibility of a sequel to Fan, he said “The fan is dead in the film. So, I don’t think there is any sequel to this movie. Maneesh and I are working on another film which is not similar to Fan at all. It’s a very different story and we will start working on it next year. It will be a nice film.”

SRK is a realistic guy!

The films are not earning enough because of these reasons.
    1. The rates of tickets have been hiked, normally a middle class family can only afford once of twice in six months for a movie.

    2. The appraisals have been poorly done due to share market crash, people left with less money.

    3. It all started after Salman PRDP when people flocked to the cinema halls to watch the performance of Salman Khan in a similar way as in BB… but the movie was huge disappointment. This had made people to take revenge by choosing the selective films. Now no Indian movie could cross 200 Marks that is sure.

    4. I think very few movies are now a days being made with keeping mind of the middle class. The middle class wants there actors should be like them not arrogant and ostentatious.

    5. Salman became hit After Dabang because it was made on the background of a village and people could relate themselves with the actor.

    6. Now SRK, Salman and Aamir and other Bollywood deeply rooted into materialistic world so common man finds it difficult to have any attachments with them.

    7. Any way with the advent of good foreign cinema has changed the taste of Indian viewers, They have seen an Indian director Ramoji could compete with Foreign film with ‘Bahubali’ so why cannot our Bollywood try to make that kind of film rather than go for the masala based films.

    8. Bollywood have potential but they have no willingness to change. this is the reason for the failure and nothing else.
