Currently awaiting the release of ‘Dangal‘ this 23rd December, reports are that Aamir Khan is working on three more projects in quick succession. The actor, who usually works on just one movie a year is now currently having a very hectic schedule with three projects in hand. One of the projects is a biopic on Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma, which has been in news for quite some time now.
The title of the biopic has been confirmed. “Since it’s a biopic on the astronaut’s life, the team wanted a name that will not only suit the biographical film but also have a patriotic feeling attached. They had two names in mind – Salute and Saare Jahaan Se Achcha and they are going ahead with the latter. It makes more sense” the source said.
To put things in context, when then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi asked Rakesh Sharma how India looked from outer space, the astronaut had said, “Saare Jahaan Se Achcha.” Therefore, there couldn’t possibly be a better title for the film.
The movie is going to be produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s new production company RSVP and will be directed by director Mahesh Mathai who had previously directed the 1999 film Bhopal Express, based on the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy. Aamir Khan will play Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma who was the first Indian to go to space.
The other two projects that are in his hands are ‘Secret Superstar’ and ‘Thugs of Hindostan’. ‘Secret Superstar’ is an Advait Chauhan movie where Aamir will do a cameo whereas ‘Thugs of Hindustan’ is a YRF film co-starring Megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
