The Box Office clash between Raees and Kaabil has been the talking point of the industry for the last 6 months. Finally, both movies were released on 25 Jan 2017 and on the opening day Shah Rukh Raees emerged as a winner with the collection of 20.42 crores while Kaabil managed to earn only 10.43 crores. Clearly, Shah Rukh’s star power and Raees’ promotional strategy overshadowed Hrithik Roshan on the first day.
On the second day, Hrithik Roshan bounced back as Kaabil witnessed an exceptional growth of 80% and collected 18.43 crore. Shahrukh Khan’s Raees also witnessed good growth and earned 26.3 crores. Kaabil has shown tremendous growth owing to superb reviews and excellent WOM from moviegoers. The critics have rated it as best Hrithik Roshan performance till date.
The real fight between the two movies started today as WOM came into play. Both movies reported big drops as it is a normal working day. As predicted by us, Raees witnessed more drop than Kaabil. Mass oriented movies tend to drop on working days and same is the case with Raees.
On the third day, Kaabil seems to be having and edge over Raees. Till evening shows, Hrithik Roshan starrer reported an occupancy of around 40% while Raees managed to touch 35% occupancy. Since Raees is running on more screens (3400), its third-day collection will be higher than Kaabil.

Raees remained stable and earned 13.11 crores to take its total collections to 59.83 crores. Kaabil also performed well on its third day but failed to beat Raees. The movie struggled in the second half of the day. Kaabil earned 9.77 crores on its third day to take its total collections to 38.87 crores. The difference between the two movies after three days is around 21 crores. Saturday and Sunday would be the most important days as they will decide where this clash will head to. Both movies are expected to witness superb growth.
