After suffering for two years due to Covid, Bollywood is hoping for a turnaround this year. However, the industry suffered a huge setback at the start of the year when cinemas across the country were closed due to rising cases of Omicron. As a result, several movies were postponed. However, things are getting back to normal. The filmmakers have been announcing the revised release dates of their movies. Let’s have a look at the revised release dates of upcoming movies:
RRR (March 25, 2022)
S.S. Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR was scheduled for a grand pan-India release on Jan 7, 2022. The most awaited movie of 2022 starring Jnr NTR, Ramcharan, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn will now release in theatres on March 25, 2022.
Valimai (Feb 24, 2022)
Starring Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar, Valimai is one of the most anticipated movies of 2022. After being delayed numerous times, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the action thriller movie will now release on Feb 24, 2022. It will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
Gangubai Kathiawadi (Feb 25, 2022)
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi has been postponed by a week. Earlier slated for release on Feb 18, Alia Bhatt starrer will now hit the big screens on Feb 25, 2022. It will be the first big Bollywood release after the reopening of theatres.
Badhaai Do (Feb 11, 2022)
Badhaai Do is a spiritual sequel to the 2018 super hit movie Badhaai Ho. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles, the movie was scheduled to release on Feb 18, 2022. However, its release date has been preponed by a week to avoid competition from other releases. Badhaai Do will now release on Feb 11, 2022.
Radhe Shyam (Mar 11, 2022)
Fans of superstar Prabhas have been waiting for the release of Radhe Shyam for the last two years. Well, they don’t need to wait long as the makers have announced the revised release date of the romantic saga. Radhe Shyam will release in theatres on Mar 11, 2022.
Bachchan Pandey (Mar 18, 2022)
After the success of Houseful 4, Akshay Kumar reunites with Farhad Samji for an action-comedy movie titled Bachchan Pandey. Starring Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline, Arshad Warsi, Pankaj Tripathi, Bachchan Pandey will debut in theatres on Mar 18, 2022. Earlier, it was scheduled to release on Mar 4, 2022.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (May 20, 2022)
The theatrical release of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has been postponed several times due to COVID. Finally, it was to release in theatres on Mar 25, 2022. However, it has been postponed again to avoid cash with SS Rajamouli’s RRR. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 will finally release on big screens on May 20, 2022.
Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj and Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey were also among the movies postponed due to Omicron. However, their producers haven’t announced the revised release dates yet.
