Either way, you’re going to decide which film you should watch on the cozy winter holidays. Here’s the list of flicks that are the tip of the iceberg of brilliant Christmas movies.

Home Alone (1990)

Home alone is a classic Christmas film and has been for 30 years. Chances are you’ve heard of this one; in case you haven’t, the whole premise of the film is perhaps a little funnier than it’s festive. Kevin, one of many children of a large family, inadvertently gets left home alone when his family goes on holiday. He spends the rest of the time protecting himself and his home from two burglars. The booby traps set up by Kevin leave you cringing and laughing. Home Alone is a light-hearted and crowd-pleasing Christmas film for all ages.

Christmas Vacation (1989)

We will all go overboard for at least one Christmas in our lifetime; Clark Griswold’s no exception. After failed perfect Christmas celebrations, he pulls out all the stops, invites the in-laws, and decks out the house in an expanse of lights. However, things don’t go too well for Clark as a series of unfortunate events make for a difficult time (hilarious for the viewer, of course). Another brilliant film if you’re looking to have a laugh with your date and also cringe behind the popcorn bowl.  With some mild spicy humor, it’s a great film to casually set the tone.

The Knight Before Christmas (2019)

Combining whimsical and festive, we have The Knight Before Christmas. When Sir Cole has a bad experience with a sorceress, he is sent to the present-day and plunged into a world he has no idea about. Luckily, he befriends Brooke, who helps him navigate this modern reality to return to his time. The moments spent together mean blossoms, and Sir Cole must decide if going back to his period is what he wants? A great Christmas film if you’re going to set a romantic atmosphere on your first date.

Bad Santa (2003)

Bad Santa is a film seemingly perfect for these first dates you want to create a relaxed atmosphere. The funny design of the movie will have you laughing out loud and having a great time. The drunkard released convict, Willie, is hired every year to be the mall Santa. He works with his dwarf sidekick to rob the department stores on Christmas eve, every single year. However, this year things get complicated when Willie takes pity on a lonely kid. Like an alcoholic Grinch, Willie goes through a soul journey, all thanks to a child.

Let it Snow (2019)

A more modern take on the Christmas spirit and young people, ‘Let it Snow’ is a brilliant teen film for first dates. The movie centers around a group of teenagers caught in a snowstorm on Christmas eve and forced to cohabit. There are budding romances and silly arguments, along with the implicit feel of a ‘Love, Actually’ kind of festive film. The romantic comedy to this film will build up those flirtatious feelings on your date while also giving something for you both to laugh at. A happy ending is always needed around Christmas time; that’s why films like this are so joyful!

Holidate (2020)

Holidate is unique in that both men and women can relate to the main characters. Solane and Jackson find themselves perpetually single around the holidays and ally to always be their date to holiday parties. The flirty friends without benefits make for a slow-building romance between the two, which doesn’t leave you gagging from a mushy display of love. They’re funny, they’re relatable, making us feel so human. The perfect Christmas film if you don’t want too much emphasis on the Christmas spirit on your first date! However, if your date is your holidate, this one might be a little too close to home…

No matter your festive style and desire for a first date, you’re guaranteed to find the perfect film for this moment. The cuffing season’s a brilliant time to get cozy with someone you care about. Use every means necessary, online or offline, so you could find your perfect match to cuddle from the warmth of home. So, turn on the telly, get some fairy lights on and pick up your biggest, snuggest blanket. It’s time to binge Christmas joy!
