British crime drama ‘Peaky Blinders’ made its debut on BBC in Sep 2013. It debuted in the US and other countries as Netflix Original in 2014. Since then it has been receiving love and appreciation from all quarters. Fans across the world were shell-shocked when Netflix announced that the crime drama is going to an end after the sixth season. The fans are also super excited for the upcoming season. They are eagerly awaiting more details like when it will release, who will be in the cast, and, what will be the plot? If you are also eager to know more about the upcoming season, we have got you covered. Here’s everything we know about Peaky Blinders Season 6.

Peaky Blinders Season 6: Plot and storyline

The fifth season of the crime drama ended on a cliffhanger and we are expecting some exciting turns of events in the coming season. In the climax of season 5, Tommy, the head of the criminal gang, was seen waving a gun to his head as political tensions intensify.

Director Anthony Byrne revealed how season six will begin, telling Digital Spy: “It picks up directly. So, the very first image you will see will be back in that field… Tommy, with a gun to his head. Then, we will move on from there, we resolve that amazing moment… it’s great.”

The failed murder of Sir Oswald Mosely raised a lot of questions that should be answered in season 6. Michael and Gina are suspects and there is a chance that they have something to do with Mosely’s murder attempt. Series director Anthony Bryne has revealed that Gina Gray’s American family will be playing a very prominent role in the next season.

The upcoming season will probably focus on the treachery against Tommy and the gang. Talking about what to expect from season 6, writer Steven Knight told NME, “This is part of the redemption of Tommy that started when he returned from the First World War.”

He added, “He was totally switched off and was unable to connect with humanity and the world and he’s been slowly coming back to life. Now he’s confronting an evil that makes him decide if he’s good or if he’s bad.

Season 6 is set against the background of the 1930s

Director Anthony Byrne revealed, “The destination for the whole show has always been the start of the Second World War, so the show is the story of the family between the wars. I really want to end it with Tommy being alright. I want Tommy to be good and on the side of the angels. There’s a lesson to be learned and it will have an optimistic message, but there’s a lot of darkness to go through yet.” So, the last season will be set against the background of the 1930s with World War II starting.

Who will star in season 6? Cast details

Tommy Shelby, the head of the gang will return as Cillian Murphy. All the lead characters of the series will return to reprise their roles- Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby, Finn Cole as Michael Gray, Sam Clafin as Oswald Mosley, and Harry Kirton as Finn Shelby.

Following the sad demise of Helen McCrory who played Aunt Polly, it remains to be seen, how her space shall be filled. Charlie Murphy, who played Jessie Eden, has confirmed she won’t be returning in season six.

Get ready to see some new faces. James Frecheville is set to appear in season six although it is unclear what his role will be. Conrad Khan will also appear in the next season and details about his role are still awaited. Amber Anderson is expected to join the cast. Stephen Graham is also joining the cast. Will there be more seasons?

Peaky Blinders Season 6 is going to be the final season of the series. However, the “story will continue in another form”, according to its creator Steven Knight.

“We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form.”

Speaking to BBC News, Knight said: “We felt what would be a great idea is to, almost in place of that seventh series, is to go onto the big screen.

“We’re talking about… I don’t like the word spin-offs, but TV series that are going to be inspired by and include characters from Peaky.”

You can stream Peaky Blinder’s first five seasons on Netflix. Believe me, it is one of the best crime dramas out there.
