One of the most awaited web shows of 2020 ‘Paatal Lok’ is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Premiered today at 12:00 am, the gritty and thrilling drama series is already getting rave reviews. It is being touted as the best web series across Indian digital platforms. The viewers are amazed by its storyline, direction, execution, treatment and top-class performance. Here is a look at what the viewers are saying about the show:

A review on Google reads, “Paatal Lok is surely the best what India has ever created across any digital platform. The performances, minute details, storytelling, background score, direction everything at it’s best. All the characters are so beautifully handled and developed. Worth spending time on it. Fresh air in the lockdown.’

Another user on Google reviews it. He wrote, “Paatal Lok is loaded with strong socio‑political commentary & is easily the best show to have come out of the Indian web space in a long time. Its noir‑ish origins give it a distinct edge. Kudos to Anushka Sharma for investing in gritty stories that strongly speak to our times.”

Paatal Lok critics review

Not only viewers, but even critics are going gaga over Anushka Sharma’s Paatal Lok. Have a look at reviews of some leading journalists:

Rohit Vats give 4 stars to the show as he writes, “Paatal Lok is a reminder of the futility of our existence and that makes me sad, but as the coronavirus is teaching us, we might have to live within the bubble as it seems safe, at least for the time being. Binge Paatal Lok, it will help you survive.”

Ananya Bhattacharya writes, “Above all of this is the story of Paatal Lok. The series is well-written. The scenes shot in a glitzy newsroom to those in the bylanes of Punjab, all look real. However, some scenes require a trigger warning. Paatal Lok leaves you asking for more. About that though, looks like we will have to wait a while till a Season 2 happens if at all it does.”

Saibal Chatterjee in his reviews writes, “The treatment, texture and sweep lend Paatal Lok, produced by Anushka Sharma and created by Sudip Sharma (writer of NH10, Udta Punjab and Sonchiriya), striking depth of detailing even when it treads known terrain.”

He adds, “Is Paatal Lok Amazon Prime’s Sacred Games? No. It is more. Paatal Lok is its own beast. It plunges, unflinching, into an abyss and shines a light on the darkness at its heart.”

Rohan Naahar in his review for The Hindustan Times writes, “n its attempt to produce a show on par with Netflix’s Sacred Games, Amazon Prime might have unwittingly outdone itself. Paatal Lok is an intense exploration of Indian immorality, but also a celebration of our ingenuity. It’s a sure-fire success for Amazon Prime.”

As more reviews are coming in, we will keep on updating this post. In simple words, Paatal Lok is exceptional in every sense. It is Amazon Prime Video’s answer to Sacred Games. If you love thrilling and intense shows, this one is a meal for you this weekend. Paatal Lok is officially streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
