Netflix Renews 'Vikings: Valhalla' for Season 2 and 3

Netflix renews the hit historical drama show ‘Vikings: Valhalla’ for two more seasons. Season 2 is expected to premiere in 2023.

Vikings: Valhalla debuted on Netflix on Feb 25, 2022. A spin-off of the Vikings was an instant hit on the platforms and it logged 194M hours views in the nine days of its premiere.  The series has also appeared in the streamer’s top ten list in ninety countries. Viewers who loved the show would be delighted to know that Netflix has renewed the series for two more seasons. The next two seasons consist of eight episodes like the first one.

Set one hundred years after the events of Vikings, the series chronicles the beginning of the end of the Viking Age, marked by the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066. Season 1 of Vikings: Valhalla focuses on the story of one of history’s most famous Vikings, Leif Eriksson, in a time when the tensions between the Vikings and the English royals reach a bloody breaking point and as the Vikings themselves clash over their conflicting Christian and Pagan beliefs.

When will Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 premiere?

As per the recent reports, the production has already wrapped up for season two. It is expected to premiere in 2023.

In the upcoming season, the known faces from the first season will reprise their respective roles. Sam Corlett will his role as Leif Eriksson, with Frida Gustavsson returning as Leif’s sister Freydis Eriksdotter and Leo Suter as Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson.

Series creator Jeb Stuart thanked fans for the love fans have bestowed. He said:

I’m thrilled to be able to confirm that we wrapped and are already editing Season Two and that production will start soon on Season Three. While the storylines for Leif, Freydis, Harald, Olaf, Canute and the rest of our amazing cast are secret, I can say without hesitation that their journeys will be even more epic than what you’ve seen so far. Season 3 is set to begin production soon

Season 3 of Vikings: Valhalla is set to begin production this spring. Jeb Stuart will return as creator, showrunner, and executive producer on the series.

The series features the end of the Viking Age, marked by the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066. In the next two seasons, Leif Erikson, Freydís Eiríksdóttir and Harald Hardrada will continue their journey. It will take them through oceans, mountains and battlefields as they fight for survival and glory.
