Munna Michael First Day Collection: It’s has been a dull year for Bollywood as far as the performance of the movies at the box office is concerned. In the first sixth month of the year, only 4 to 5 movies managed to make a mark at the box office. Bollywood is going through a poor phase and all eyes are now on Tiger Shroff’s Munna Michael. The movie has been released today on 3000 screens. Directed by Sabbir Khan, it is off to a poor opening in the morning shows. Let’s have a look at first day box office update of Munna Michael.
Munna Michael First Day Collection Update: Occupancy Report
As per the reports coming, the movie has taken a poor opening at the domestic box office. The movie recorded 15% occupancy in the morning shows which is a poor number considering the kind of film it is. The opening is similar to the flop movies of the year like OK Jaanu, Rangoon and Begum Jaan.
Munna Michael is more of a mass film and it would be interesting to see how it opens in the noon shows across the mass centres. The makers have opted for a wide release and we think it is not a good decision. Single screens of Maharashtra and Nizam were the best performing circuits in the morning shows.
Noon & Evening Shows
The movie witnessed small growth in the noon shows. As expected it picked up some pace in the mass centres. Mumbai remained the best performing circuits. The real shocker is film’s poor performance in the north circuits. Tiger enjoys a good fan following in North circuit and Munna Michael was expected to take a good opening in this circuit.
Munna Michael First Day Collection: Official Numbers
The expectations were high from Munna Michael but it has taken a really dull opening at the box office. The reviews received so far has been poor and it seems that the movie will struggle in coming days. (Read: Munna Michael box office prediction)
Our predictions have gone all wrong as we were expecting the movie to cross 10 crores on the first day. As per official numbers shared by Taran Adarsh, Munna Michael earned 6.63 crores on Friday.
This is the second highest opening day collection of Munna Michael. The collections are close to Tiger Shroff’s debut film Heropanti which earned 6.5 crores. Tiger’s other film with Sabbir, Baaghi earned 11.94 crores on the first day and eventually went on to gross 76 crores. Tiger’s last film, A Flying Jatt earned 7.1 crores on its opening day.
Talking about the best opening day grosser of 2017, Munna Michael is at 9th position. It has beaten the opening day collection of movies like Commando 2, Naam Shabana and Rangoon. (Read: Highest opening day grossers of 2017)
The opening is below the mark considering the pre-release hype and buzz. The reviews are also negative and it looks difficult for the film to survive after a decent first weekend.
