As predicted by us, Sushant Singh Rajput and Disha Patani starrer MS Dhoni The Untold Story got off to a thunderous opening at the domestic Box Office. Released on around 3800 screens across the country, the movie has set the Box Office on fire on the first day itself. The hype and buzz created by the movie before release converted to huge numbers on the opening day. As per the official numbers shared by Taran Adarsh, MS Dhoni The Untold Story collected 21.3 crores on its opening day. The movie has beaten the opening day collection of SRK’s FAN to register the second highest opening of 2016.
MS Dhoni The Untold Story 1st Day Collection: Occupancy Report
The movie got off to a tremendous start and registered an occupancy of around 60% in the morning shows across the country. The opening was best in Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad. South India registered the biggest opening for the Bollywood movie this year. Hyderabad and Chennai opened to occupancy of around 90% in the morning shows which is a clear indication of Dhoni’s fan power in these regions. In north Indian centres, the occupancy in the morning shows was around 50%.
The movie witnessed good growth in the evening and night shows as the occupancy was around 75%. Overall, the average occupancy on the first day was around 60%, second highest of 2016 after Sultan.

MS Dhoni The Untold Story had a huge opening day with the collection of 21.3 crores. It has beaten the opening day collection of SRK’s FAN (19.2 crores), Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 3 to emerge as the second highest opening day grosser of 2016. The movie also becomes the highest opener for a sports biopic in India.
Considering the kind of opening MS Dhoni The Untold Story has got at the domestic Box Office, we can expect the movie to remain strong on throughout the opening weekend. Though the reviews have been mixed, the audience has loved the movie. It should easily cross 60 crores in the first weekend.
