The most sought actress of Bollywood from 1998 to 2006, Aishwarya has rejected some big projects. 1. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Aishwarya Rai was offered the part of Tine in Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. At that time, she was busy shooting for her Tamil films Jeans and her dates were clashing with that of KKHH. This role was also offered to many actresses like Twinkle Khanna, Raveena Tandon before it landed into Rani Mukherji’s lap.
2. Bajirao Mastani
Sanjay Leela Bhansali originally wanted to make Bajirao Mastani with Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead. But we all know about her past with Salman Khan and this was the reason why Bhansali postponed the movie and finally made it in the year 2015 with Deepika, Ranveer, and Priyanka in the leads.
3. Chalte Chalte
Aishwarya Rai was finalized as the leading lady of Chalte Chalte and she even began filming for the movie. But she had to leave the movie as her then boyfriend Salman Khan began disrupting the shooting from time to time. The movie got delayed and Rani got the part.
4. Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham
Aishwarya was offered the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s love interest in KJo’s one of the most successful films ever. But Aishwarya had a very busy schedule at that time and could not make out time for KJo.
5. Badlapur
Aishwarya made her comeback after becoming a mother with Sanjay Gupta’s Jazbaa and she could have also done it with Badlapur as the movie was offered to her. But she wanted to make a comeback as the leading lady and also did not want to play a role with grey shades.
6. Raja Hindustani
Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor’s Raja Hindustani is still considered one of the best romantic films ever. But did you know that Aish was offered the chance to make her debut with this film? Unfortunately, she was focused on her studies at that time and hence refused to be a part of this film.
7. Munnabhai MBBS
Aishwarya turned down the lead role in Munnabhai MBBS as she was not sure about working with Sanjay Dutt at a time when his career was not looking too good. She was also not too happy about the fact that the role was not very compelling.
8. Dostana
When Aishwarya was initially offered Dostana, Saif Ali Khan and Abhishek Bachchan were to be the male leads in it. But before the movie happened Aish got married to Abhishek and when the movie went on floors, she decided to step down as casting her as the female lead with two actors would not look right, especially because her husband was one of them.
9. Bhool Bhulaiyaa
Aishwarya was offered to play the role of Vidya Balan in Bhool Bhulaiyaa but she refused it. Director Priyadarshan, later on, said that “I realized that it would have been a grave mistake on my part if I had taken on Aishwarya Rai, as I had planned earlier instead of Vidya”.
10. Veer Zaara
Aishwarya Rai would have looked great in Veer Zaara but she was not happy about the fact that Yash Chopra was simply recasting the cast of Chalte Chalte. This was the reason why she passed on the role in this epic romantic movie.
Special Mention: Krrish
Reportedly, Aishwarya was also offered the role of Priyanka Chopra in the first part of Krrish but Aish passed it on. Little did she know that this movie will be the biggest superhero movie of Bollywood and have two more super-hit sequels.
